Very disappointing.. We went there yesterday after we had made sure that it should be open and there was a sales van. At that time completely understandable, but that there was only a handful of whole milk and 1 Baumkuchen with dark chocolate is very disappointing, no reason to go there, the poor staff ....
Interesting house in the shape of a tree cake, already recognizable from afar. Cute cafe with goodies.
Unfortunately there is no show baking at the moment. That's a shame, because there is coffee and cake everywhere else. Nevertheless: Such a selection of Baumkuchen specialties is probably unique. And there is also something for the hearty taste ...
We were on October 28th. there. Called 1 day before to reserve a table. The selection is relatively small, but there are even hearty Baumkuchen. Our orders came to the table very quickly, the taste was great. In terms of price, we even thought it would be more expensive. All in all a great visit.
Ok
Non-Germans won’t understand baumkuchen, even after it’s been patiently explained. It’s baked layer by layer, with each thin layer cooked a minute or less before adding the next. I’ve eaten baumkuchen five or six times. To this explanation I say, “Why?” As others note, it’s not particularly tasty, and it’s frequently (read “always”) dry. But it’s a Weihnachten tradition, Germans love it, and it’s interesting to see. Harzer Baumkuchen is probably the best place to try baumkuchen, especially since the building is shaped like one. There are options for chocolate frosting, fillings, and ice cream or whipped cream on top. Get them all. You’ll think, “Huh, I guess it’s pretty good,” and you’ll learn something about Germany in the process.
We were there in mid-October, exactly during the holiday season. The traffic light system in front of the door for counter sales is a very good arrangement and it went quickly even in the middle of the day We decided to take a seat in the café without waiting. The waitresses were super friendly and the warm Baumkuchen with ice cream and cream (€ 3.70) was also enjoyed by the children down to the last crumb. For all those who cannot distinguish a discounter cake from real handicraft, it should be said that the price is completely ok and even my ten-year-old daughter tasted a difference. ? Unfortunately, there are currently no demonstrations so we'll have to come back when Corona has decided to go. ?
A very nice place with a sales counter, the food and drinks are very tasty and affordable. I had a dream warm Baumkuchen with chocolate ice cream and whipped cream ?. The staff is very friendly and nice, happy to implement the wishes of the customers ... Highly recommended .. The range of Baumkuchen is very diverse ...
Took the tree cake and it tasted pretty good. But we like the one from Aldi just as much for the fact that it doesn't cost 11 €. Many people are waiting outside the door to be able to sit down. We heard about 1 hour. We were there during Corona and the measures are well followed.
Nicely designed Baumkuchencafé with nice, polite staff and a small museum with historical machines for making Baumkuchen. The Baumkuchen pieces are a bit expensive in relation to the size and a bit too sweet for my taste, hence a star deduction. Otherwise a visit is recommended.
If you like Baumkuchen, this is the place for you. It doesn't get any fresher. The scent: GORGEOUS. I can't say whether there will be a show bakery, because everything is different in these crazy times.
Is something special, but that's all. In terms of taste, I couldn't find any real difference to the "supermarket tree cake". But it is very expensive for that. The small museum that they have there on the topic of Baumkuchen is nice. But since I've been there now, I probably won't want to go there again.
Spontaneous visit was worth it. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. The choice of Baumkuchen variations was just right. Price / performance was right in our opinion. We will be back. :)
Nice coffee. Cool facade. Baumkuchen very tasty. A little too expensive in coffee itself. Very attentive and friendly service.
Made cute, eaten delicious Baumkuchen and of course taken as a souvenir. It's a shame that you can't buy a cup as a souvenir
Delicious Baumkuchen in different variations, very tasty. The service is very friendly. Great cafe that also shows how Baumkuchen is or was made today and in the past.
A must for Baumkuchen fans. Whether traditional or filled, really tasty. The staff was super friendly, even though we arrived shortly before the end of the day.
I wasn't particularly happy, but the staff was nice!
Very traditional Harzer tree cake (Baumkuchen) very pleasant service in a nice and unique ambient. You have to vist.
I can only recommend a very, very nice place, great thing and very good gastronomy
Worth a stop, but not worth the crowds. Also did not understand why their cakes were mostly paired with chocolate or chocolate ice cream. Not a good complement (and I love chocolate). These cakes are made to be paired with fresh fruit.
From the outside it looks inviting, which continues inside. The whole thing is peppered with many gimmicks and things to discover. Unfortunately, and it's a shame, it's pretty much commercial here. The Baumkuchen is delicious, but, as the media say, it doesn't deliver what was promised. We were looking for tree cakes with cones, but what you got here was what you can find everywhere with little search, machine-made tree cakes. So round and in the usual measure without being able to see the real handwork. But if you don't need it, you can look at the exhibits, because they are as expected, but not available. Too bad. The hearty tree cake is also remarkable at first, but when it came on the table it was just a tree cake with meat. Small, more of an appetizer than a meal. Strangely enough, the place cards didn't focus on Baumkuchen, but on normal dishes. Here, too, there is room for improvement. Remarks from the staff about what else to deal with are also helpful here. Otherwise, if you are around and know Baumkuchen, this is the place to come. Who needs the everyday too. If you don't need and look for all of this, you don't stop here, because it's not worth it. An unfortunately not satisfied Baumkuchen fan who is still looking.
Co-workers were friendly. Orders were brought to the table quickly. It took a while to place my order. It was very tasty. At the end I bought 2 small tree cakes but for 20 €, I would rather spend the money on something else.
I can only recommend the Baumkuchenhaus in Wernigerode. The service is very friendly here and the food is served in less than 5 minutes. The Baumkuchen tastes heavenly. We will definitely visit the Baumkuchenhaus again. I give it 5 stars because everything fits here
Ok
Cool
Cake is awfully dry and overpriced. Don't expect coffee but rather a water coffee mix.
Very nice atmosphere, delicious cakes ?

Come and see how to bake famous Harzer Baumkuchen, a kind of pyramid cake, so sweet, so take one piece or two before going on towards the real jewel of timber frame ❤️
Bester Baumkuchen ever.
"Baumkuchen" or "Pyramid Cakes" are a famous German dessert and here you'll get a great variety while everything is made fresh. It can get quite crowded but eating on of their creations is worth your while and quite affordable.
Fun cake shop
An icon of the Harz. "Tree cakes" and coffee. Must try it.
